Drupal website training and ongoing mentoring
Drupal is a fantastic content management system for powering most websites. However it is a system that needs to be worked.
As with most things there are different levels to using Drupal from beginner to highly advanced.
With six years of intensive experience doing all things Drupal and nine years specialising in SEO, we can fast track the learning curve. In turn improve the success that you can earn from your website.
We like to think of learning Drupal in different roles.
Learn how to create optimised content.
The first is being a writer who just needs to understand how to make, edit and delete optimised pages. Proper on page formatting can make a difference to your rankings and indeed user experience. You don't need technical skill for this as Drupal makes it easy, if you know how to use it.
Training to be a Drupal website admin
Next is a site admin. As a site admin you should understand conceptually the modular way Drupal works and the core modules: Blocks and regions, Users, Nodes (pages), Roles and permissions, basic views configuration and where the module (add-ons / plugins) settings are found. This still doesn't require technical skill, as in coding, just knowing your way around. Some people just want to know how to add new users who can add / edit content. Other clients just use one account that everybody uses to work with content.
Drupal training for site builders
After that is site builders. For that we'd sit and make a website to catalogue music, it's a great use case to learn very advanced configuration concepts.
During this you'll learn how to:
- Create content types and add fields, this is essentially designing a database.
- Understand the concepts of entities, these are a new thing in Drupal 7.
- Find and install modules to extend Drupal cores functionality ie responsive slideshow, video...
- Configure rules so as to make a reactive system. They are triggered by an "Event", if some "Conditions" are met and then perform some "Actions". This is known as ECA in software.
- Configure advanced dynamic views to essentially pull out and display content in anyway you want.
At this point we still haven't touched on any code believe it or not. Well other than the HTML for three things: Images, Links and headings. You would however be in a position to build very complex websites.
Drupal training to be a themer
Then there are site themers. Themes in Drupal are what controls the way a website looks. This requires learning some CSS, HTML, PHP and jQuery. This as you can see is when coding comes into play. Therefore you can expect there to be quite a steep learning curve.
Although after an introduction to it and understanding the concept, most things can then be looked up. Being as you'll then understand what you're reading.
Ongoing Drupal Mentoring
Developing websites is not something you completely master because every time we use a new module there is new code and techniques to learn.
Not to mention developing custom modules and that is certainly a topic with no end.
That said, the longer you do it, the quicker you pick things up. The longer you do it, the more mature your developer skills get, in turn the innovative solutions to client requirements. There are often many possible solutions there is often only one right way.
Remote Drupal training
We have face-to-face with video and we can share our screen for training. Other than not being able to shake hands we may as well be there, at your convenience, all without travelling costs and time being involved.
We love training people who are eager to get ahead of the game. Just get in touch with what you wish to learn and we can discuss prices.
